The history of the Torrigiani family
Way back in 1491, Giovanni di Chele Torrigiani was sent from Pescia with the title of Constable to counter the enemy forces of the Duke of Milan. Another brave individual, Paolo di Papa, presented himself with the same title in 1295 to help Pietrabuona in its fight against Pisa. We cannot forget that Giovanni was also Constable of Pescia in 1501.
These heroic deeds and noble titles show the importance and influence these men have had in history. They are examples of courage, leadership and dedication to their territory. Their actions have helped defend and protect communities in times of conflict.
Giovanni di Chele Torrigiani, sent from Pescia as Constable in 1491, demonstrated his commitment and value in facing the advance of the Duke of Milan. His presence and leadership were crucial in protecting the region and sustaining its independence.
Similarly, Paolo di Papa, in 1295, joined Pietrabuona’s fight against Pisa as Constable. His courage and dedication were a beacon of hope for the community, offering military and strategic support to defend their land.
We cannot forget Giovanni’s importance as Constable of Pescia in 1501. His leadership role was crucial in maintaining order and security in the region, ensuring the protection of its inhabitants.
Mrs. Mirella Alba Torrigiani, descendant of Quintilio and Annunziata Biancalani, is a well-known member of the community of Lamporecchio, located in the province of Pistoia. Her date of birth is July 18, 1930, which took place in the picturesque village of Tizzana.
From a young age, Mrs. Torrigiani demonstrated a great passion for her homeland and her community. Growing up in Lamporecchio, she developed a deep attachment to her places of origin and to her people.
Her family has a long history of roots in the region, with ancestors dating back generations. Mirella Alba Torrigiani is a proud heir to this rich family legacy and she is committed to preserving and promoting local culture and traditions.
Among the descendants of the family is Dr. Pier Luigi Giambene, son of Mirella Alba Torrigiani, who promotes the business called Torrigiani Apartments with his family assets.
Born in Pistoia but lived for most of his life in Florence, he managed the “Relais Torrigiani” Bed & Breakfast in a family home.
He has been working as an accountant for several years and, out of passion, he decided to rent out some properties he owns located in Sardinia, Cala Gonone and Quarrata – Pistoia.

Since 2021 Pierluigi, the father, made the decision to undertake this adventure in the tourism sector by actively involving his children. Luca, the son, carefully takes care of all logistical and hospitality issues, ensuring that every detail is managed with precision and attention.
On the other hand, Francesca, her daughter, passionately carries forward the aspect of online marketing and communication, ensuring that the tourist proposal is presented in an effective and captivating way on the web.
Together, this family forms a dynamic and collaborative team, working together to offer unforgettable experiences in the heart of Tuscany.
