Sardinia – Cala Gonone

Cala Gonone is a wonderful natural inlet located on the north-eastern coast of Sardinia, in the province of Nuoro.

Included in the municipal territory of Dorgali, the bay of Cala Gonone opens up between cliffs and cliffs of white rock sculpted by the sea. The transparent and crystalline waters lap the very fine quartz gravel that covers the seabed.

Around the cove there are rocky walls covered with lush Mediterranean vegetation. A favorite destination for relaxation and sunbathing, Cala Gonone also offers the possibility of excursions and outdoor activities in a unique and wild natural setting.

Quarrata is a town in the province of Pistoia located at the foot of Montalbano. The inhabited center, crossed by the Ombrone Pistoiese river, is an important industrial district in the textile sector.

Founded in medieval times as a village linked to agriculture, Quarrata still maintains a maze of streets and squares in its historic core. In recent decades the surrounding area has experienced a strong urban expansion with a residential and productive vocation.

In the city center you should visit the eighteenth-century Medicean Villa La Magia and the majestic collegiate church of Santa Maria Assunta, a masterpiece of the Tuscan Renaissance dating back to the mid-fifteenth century.

Our History

Giovanni di Chele Torrigiani was sent from Pescia in 1491 with the title of Constable to oppose the impetuous arms of the Duke of Milan. Paolo di Papa with the same title, who in 1295 came to the aid of Pietrabuona against Pisa. Giovanni was also Constable of Pescia in 1501.

Among the representatives of the Lamporecchio (Pistoia) branch is Mrs. Mirella Alba Torrigiani, late Quintilio and Annunziata Biancalani, born in Tizzana on 18 July 1930.

Among the descendants of the family is Dr. Pier Luigi Giambene, son of Mirella Alba Torrigiani, who promotes the business called Torrigiani Apartments with his family assets. Born in Pistoia but lived for a good part of his life in Florence, he managed the “Relais Torrigiani” Bed & Breakfast in a family home.

He has been working as an accountant for several years and, out of passion, he has decided to rent out some of his properties located in Sardinia, in the Cala Gonone area; Piombino locality Salivoli; Quarrata – Pistoia Via Lucciano.
